Lok Sabha
The amount of default by employers to the Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has increased to 1862.80 crore in 2003-04 from Rs. 1511.79 crore in the previous year/
Giving details in a written reply in the Lok Sabha, the Minister of Labour & Employment Shri K. Chandrasekhar Rao said that West Bengal topped the list with Rs. 347.36 crore. Other states in which the default amount had increased are Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Goa, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Orissa, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtras and North Eastern States.
