The Union Cabinet today gave its approval for implementation of the introduction of Bharat Stage-II Diesel fuel, an improved fuel in seven States, namely, Rajasthan, West Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir by October 1, 2005 as against April 1, 2005 approved earlier. Introduction of BS II grade in all States, except the above seven States, will be done from April 1, 2005 as per the Auto Fuel Policy.
Petrol and Diesel of Euro III equivalent grade would be made available in all the 11 major cities and Petrol of BS II grade would be made available throughout the country from April 1, 2005.
