Sports is a State subject. The allocations for development of sports in different disciplines have to be made by the State Governments as well as concerned National Sports Federations. The Government of India supplements these efforts by making available assistance to State Governments, National Sports Federations, sportspersons and other institutions under the different schemes of the Ministry.
This information was given by the Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Shri Sunil Dutt in a written reply in the Lok Sabha today.
