The Union Cabinet today gave ex-post facto approval for the Extradition Treaty between India and Mauritius signed on November 21, 2003 at New Delhi during the visit of the Prime Minister of Mauritius. Ex-post facto approval was also given to the Extradition Treaty signed between India and Bahrain on January 13, 2004 at New Delhi during the visit of the Prime Minister of Bahrain. The Cabinet also ratified the Extradition Treaty signed between India and Tajikistan at Dushanbe on November 14, 2003 during the visit of the Prime Minister of India to Tajikistan.
The Treaties will provide the legal framework for the extradition of terrorists and other criminals from and to these countries.
