Although the Ministry of Defence is responsible for organising the Republic Day parade and the Beating Retreat ceremony at New Delhi every year, the organisation of these ceremonies requires coordinated efforts of various Central Ministries and Departments, the State Governments, the Union Territory Administrations, the Central Public Sector Undertakings, local bodies and various other agencies. As expenditure on various items regarding these arrangements is borne by the concerned organisations / agencies and is not compiled or executed under one head, it is not possible to indicate the amount spent on these ceremonies during each of the last three years.
The Government earned the revenue of Rs. 7,78,670/-, Rs 11,20,980/- and Rs. 12,48,110/- from the sale of Republic Day tickets for the year 2003, 2004 and 2005 respectively. Similarly, a revenue of Rs. 37,160/-, Rs. 53,010/- and Rs 92,370/- was received from the sale of Beating Retreat tickets for the year 2003, 2004 and 2005 respectively.
