After the Tsunami tragedy, the Govt. of Tamil Nadu have submitted a proposal to the Ministry of Water Resources to carry out the restoration due to damages, restore the coastal infrastructure and carry out coastal protection works in Tamil Nadu at an estimated cost of Rs.5706 crore. The proposal is under examination. The proposal has no reference to any objection by the fishermen.
This information was given by the Minister of State for Water Resources, Shri Jai Prakash Narayan Yadav in written reply to a question in Lok Sabha today.
