connectivity of north-eastern states by rail

A number of new line projects are in progress in North-East Region which on completion would provide rail connectivity to the States. These include:-


i) Harmuti-Itanagar (Assam & Arunachal Pradesh)

ii) Jiribam-Imphal Road (Tupul). (Assam & Manipur)

iii) Kumarghat-Agartala (Tripura)

iv) Dudhnoi-Depa (Assam & Meghalaya)

v) New Maynaguri-Jogighopa (West Bengal & Assam)


Apart from these, survey for the following new rail lines have recently been completed/are in progress:-


i) Dimapur to Kohima (Nagaland)

ii) Bhairabi to Sairang/Aizwal (Mizoram)

iii) Sivok to Gielkhola (West Bengal)

iv) Azara to Byrnihat (Assam & Meghalaya)

v) Jogighopa-Panchratna to Silchar (Assam & Meghalaya)

vi) Agartala to Sabroom (Tripura)


The above information was given by the Minister of State for Railways Shri R. velu in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha today.
