The Union Cabinet today gave its approval for introduction of the Commissions for the Protection of Child Rights Bill, 2005 in the current session of Parliament.
The Commissions for the Protection of Child Rights would be the statutory mechanism to oversee and review the implementation of the National Policy for Children and recommend remedial action in instances of violation of child rights. This would result in improving the survival rates, health, nutrition, education, etc. of all children, particularly the girl children, and would better equip them to be economically productive adults who could contribute to the nation.
