The two-day All-India Civil Defence, Home Guards and Fire Services Biennial Conference begins here tomorrow. It will be inaugurated by the Home Minister, Shri Shivraj Patil. Directors of Civil Defence, Commandants General, Home Guards, Chiefs of Fire Services of the States and Union Territories and a larger number of specialists are likely to attend the Conference.
During the conference, revamping of Civil Defence, Home Guard & Fire Services will be discussed. The Government has already taken certain steps for toning up the civil defence set-up in the country. 15 crore rupees has been sanctioned for revamping the National Civil Defence College, Nagpur and a proposal for revamping the National Fire Service College is under active consideration.
