The Central Burea Of Investegation has registered a case
of possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources
of income against an IAS Officer of 1967 batch (U.P. Cadre),
who retired as Chief Secretary in December, 2003. After registering
the case the Ani-Corruption Branch of the Investigating agency
is carrying out searches at 16 places today at Delhi (3 places),
Lucknow (7 places), Bahraich, U.P. (2 places) and Nainital,
Uttaranchal (4 places).
The accused Officer has held various sensitive positions
in the Government of Uttar Pradesh and also in the Central
Government. He is disclosed to be having a large number of
properties in his own name and in the names of his family
members and others, apart from a benami fleet of vehicles.
He is disclosed to have been leading an extravagant life-style
and spent enormous sums on the education and marriage of his
two daughters. He is also suspected to have stashed his ill-gotten
earnings in overseas bank accounts and has made several private
trips abroad.
Among the major properties in the name of the accused officer,
his family members and others mentioned in the FIR registered
u/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(e) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988,
are the following :
(i) House constructed in Plot Nos.1/9, 1/10 and 1/11, Vishwas
Khand, Gomti Nagar, Lucknow, estimated to be worth Rs.30 lakhs
in 1990.
(ii) Commercial Flat No.14-D, Basant Lok, Community Centre,
Vasant Vihar, New Delhi.
(iii) Agricultural land measuring 3.824 hectares at Village
Bhirwa, Tehsil Baruapur, Distt. Bahraich, U.P.
(iv) House in Plot No.1/15, Vishwas Khand, Gomti Nagar, Lucknow.
(v) Double-Storeyed House in Plot No.1/16, Vishwas Khand,
Gomti Nagar, Lucknow.
(vi) House on Plot No.1/18, Vishwas Khand, Gomti Nagar, Lucknow.
(vii) Floriculture Farm House measuring 7.936 hectares at
Vill. Hardaurpur, Tehsil Bakhshi Ka Talab, Sitapur Road, Lucknow.
(viii) Farm House on 10 acres of leased land at Plot Nos.
A-2/1 & A-2/2, UPSIDC Industrial Area, Bhimtal, Nainital,
Uttaranchal.
(ix) Farm House of 15 acres at Village Nisaula (Mehra Gaon),
Bhimtal, Nainital, Uttaranchal.
(x) 6 acres land in Village Sangudi, Bhimtal, Nainital, Uttaranchal
on which an International School and Engineering College are
under construction.
(xi) Farm House on 3.5 acres at Village Ladphora, Padampuri,
Nainital, Uttaranchal.
(xii) Guest House constructed on 3 ‘Nalis’ of
land out of a total land measuring 12.5 ‘Nalis’
at Khunsa Road about 1 Km. from Dhanachuli Band, Gaja, Tehsil
Dhari, Nainital, Uttaranchal.
(xiii) Bungalow named ‘Corbett Lily House’, Mandir
Marg, Bhimtal, Nainital, Uttaranchal.
(xiv) Flat No.8, Poorvi Apartments, Poorvi Marg, Vasant Vihar,
New Delhi.
(xv) Farm House at 3, Shanti Kunj, Behind Sector D-III, Vasant
Kunj, New Delhi.
