The Government has undertaken a beautification drive in and around Red Fort and the area on the east and west side of the Red Fort has been landscaped. ASI has incurred an expenditure of Rs. 192.88 lakhs; Rs. 292.53 and Rs. 160.85 lakh during the year 2002-03, 2003-04 and 2004-05 respectively on the works. The area for developing of parking facilities has been identified and the work has been entrusted to the CPWD.
This information was given by Minister of Information & Broadcasting and Culture, Shri S. Jaipal Reddy in written reply to a question in Lok Sabha today.
