The Chief of Army Staff General JJ Singh and Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal SP Tyagi presented cheques worth Rs. 28.97 crores and Rs 3.61 crores respectively to the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh here today.
The amount was raised through one-day’s pay contributed by Indian Army and Air Force personnel. The entire amount has been contributed to the PM’s relief fund. The Minister of State for Defence Shri BK Handique was also present on the occasion.
