The total production of Aluminium metal in the country during April 2004 to February, 2005 has been estimated at 8,01,890 tonnes as against 7,47,134 tonnes during the same period last year. Out of this, the public sector National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) produced 3,07,312 tonnes and Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (BALCO) with 49 per cent Central Government equity 90,563 tonnes. The private sector Hindustan Aluminium Company Limited (HINDALCO) produced 3,11,341 tonnes, Indian Aluminium Company Limited (INDAL) 59,828 tonnes and Madras Aluminium Company Limited (MALCO) 32,846 tonnes.
Total production of alumunium metal during February 2005 was estimated at 69,920 tonnes against a target of 70,171 tonnes. Out of this, NALCO produced 27,752 tonnes, BALCO 7,959 tonnes, HINDALCO 26,690 tonnes, INDAL 4,661 tonnes and MALCO 2,858 tonnes. NALCO sold 1,01,223 tonnes of alumina hydrate and exported 17,612 tonnes of aluminium during the month.
