aluminium production up

The total production of Aluminium metal in the country during April 2004 to January, 2005 has been estimated at 7,31,970 tonnes as against 6,80,006 tonnes during the same period last year. Out of this, the public sector National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) produced 2,79,560 tonnes and Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (BALCO) with 49 per cent Central Government equity 82,604 tonnes. The private sector Hindustan Aluminium Company Limited (HINDALCO) produced 2,84,651 tonnes, Indian Aluminium Company Limited (INDAL) 55,167 tonnes and Madras Aluminium Company Limited (MALCO) 29,988 tonnes.

Total production of alumunium metal during January 2005 was estimated at 79,064 tonnes against a target of 77,306 tonnes. Out of this, NALCO produced 31,062 tonnes, BALCO 9,056 tonnes, HINDALCO 30,601 tonnes, INDAL 5,651 tonnes and MALCO 2,694 tonnes. NALCO sold 65,342 tonnes of alumina hydrate and exported 12,065 tonnes of aluminium during the month.
