M/s. Maruti Udyog Limited has been manufacturing Zen AX Model cars for the use by physically challenged people. During the year 2001-02, seventy-eight such vehicles were manufactured. In 2002-03 eighty vehicles and 2003-04, fifty-eight vehicles were rolled out by the Company. The Government allows Central Excise Duty concession for the purchase of such vehicles.
This information was given by the Minister of State for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, Shri Sontosh Mohan Dev in a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha today.
