India and Poland today signed an agreement to promote the Cultural Exchange between the two countries. Smt. Neena Ranjan, Secretary, Ministry of Culture signed the Cultural Exchange Programme (CEP) agreement on behalf of India whereas Shri Boguslaw Zaleski, Deputy Foreign Minister of Poland signed for the Republic of Poland. The CEP envisages cooperation between the two countries in the field of archives maintenance; protection, conservation and promotion of the cultural heritage of both countries and translation of Polish literary works into an Indian language and vice versa.
Under the CEP, the National Museum in Warsaw will cooperate with the National Museum of India and the National Gallery of Modern Arts by way of study, visits and workshops and training of personnel. National Library in Kolkatta will exchange materials including microfilms and diamicrocards with libraries and other institutions in Poland. Exchange of exhibitions, artists and periodicals and publications are the other aspects covered under the CEP, which will be effective till December 31, 2007.
