The Defence Minister Shri Pranab Mukherjee presented the Best Marching Contingent Trophy for the Armed Forces contingent in this year’s Republic Day Parade to Sikh Regiment. The trophy was received by Lt. Vikram Singh Gill who commanded the Sikh Regiment in the parade.
The Minister also presented the Best Marching Contingent Trophy for the para-military forces to Delhi Police which was received by Mr. Atul Katiar, DCP, Delhi Police. Speaking on the occasion Shri Mukherjee complemented the good works done by the Armed as well as Para-military forces during peace and war times. He specially recalled the excellent relief and rescue operations of the forces during Kashmir snow fall and Tsunami tragedy. Congratulating the winners the Minister hoped that they will continue to show such excellent performances in future.
The Minister of State for Defence Shri B K Handique and the three service Chiefs were also present on the occasion.
