The Union Minister of Shipping, Road Transport and Highways, Thiru T. R. Baalu has approved work for improvement of riding quality from km 29 to 42, 43 (400 m) and km 44 to 49 of Muzaffarpur-Sitamarhi section of NH 77 in the State of Bihar at a total cost of Rs. 499.55 lakhs.
The present condition of this stretch is poor and may deteriorate further and disturb the road communication from Patna to Nepal border. The stretch of NH 77 from Muzaffarpur to Sitamarhi, though part of NHDP Phase III, is not included in NHDP-III (A) and therefore its development to 4-lane facility will take time. Therefore, it was decided by the Ministry of Shipping, Road Transport and Highways to undertake improvement of riding quality in this particular stretch.
