sail’s steel production soars

The Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) produced 0.945 million tonnes of saleable steel during April 2005 representing an increase of 106 per cent of the target. It produced 1.181 million tonnes of hot metal and 1.07 million tonnes of crude steel during the month registering an increase of 108 per cent and 105 per cent respectively. During the month of April 2005, there has been increase of 28 per cent and 35 per cent in the production of saleable steel and hot metal respectively, over the corresponding period last year.

SAIL has agreed to provide fund support for upgradation/expansion of Munidih Mines by BCCL from the current level of 0.5 MT to 1.23 MT/annual of Run of Mine (ROM).
