The second meeting of the SAARC Technical Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development will be held in New Delhi on June 27-28, 2005. The meeting will be inaugurated by Dr. Mangala Rai, Secretary, DARE and DG, ICAR. All members of SAARC countries are expected to participate in the meeting.
The two-day meeting will deliberate on various issues like ‘water for agriculture in SAARC countries’, ‘establishing SAARC quadrangle milk grid’ and discussion on ‘exchange of rural development volunteers in the SAARC countries’. It will also discuss the modalities for establishment of regional food bank on the basis of paper prepared by India. The role of SAARC Agricultural Information Centre (SAIC) will also figure in the two-day meeting.
India had hosted the first meeting of the technical committee on agriculture and rural development in New Delhi in July last year.
