The Indian Railways Judo Team comprising of 8 players participated in the USIC World Railway (7th Men) Judo Championship held at Verna, Sofia (Bulgaria) from 6th to 10th June 2005. During the event Sh. Ram Ashrey won Silver Medal in the 73 kg category, while Sh. Sanjay Kumar won Bronze in the 100 kg category.
This is the first occasion when Indian Railways Judo Team participated in the Championship.
The USIC World Railway Judo Championship is held every 4 years under the aegis of International Railmen’s Sports Union.
