The Director of Institute of Economic Growth, Delhi, Prof. B.B. Bhattacharya has been appointed Vice-Chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru University by the President, in his capacity as the visitor of JNU.
The term and conditions of service of Prof. Bhattacharya as Vice-Chancellor will be those set forth in the Act, Statutes and Ordinances of the University.
Born on March 9, 1945, Prof. Bhattacharya earned his post-graduate degree in economics from the University of Allahabad in 1966 and Ph.D. in 1971 from Delhi School of Economics. Prof. Bhattacharya has published a number of articles and books dealing with macro economics, money and finance, public finance, international economics, development economics, econo-metric modeling and political economy of development.
