A serious move is being made to connect North Eastern Region better with the rest of the country. A landmark plan is on the anvil to have better air connectivity in the North Eastern areas. This plan was discussed at length in the NEC meeting held in Shillong recently. The Plan proposes to have an air service with STOL (short take off – landing) air crafts as these are efficient as well as affordable. The matter will be taken up with the Civil Aviation Ministry so that the connectivity can be provided in near future. It is expected that this move will give a tremendous boost to the tourism in the region. There is no dearth of beautiful locations in the North East and the tourism industry many a times suffers due to the lack of proper and convenient air connectivity. With the implementation of this plan it is likely that soon the destinations in the North East will become the top choice of Indians as well as foreign tourists.
