The total production of Lignite during May 2005 by the Neyveli Lignite Corporation Limited (NLC), a public sector unit of the Ministry of Coal has been estimated at 21.40 lakh tonnes which is 15.6 per cent more than the target of 18.5 lakh tonnes and 41.3 per cent more than the production of 15.14 lakh tonnes during the same month last year. The company during the month generated 1712.51 million units of power, 19.76 per cent more than the target of 1430 million units and 44 per cent more than the production of 1187.43 million units in May last year. It exported 1472.97 million units during the month, which is 48.55 per cent more than 991.56 million units exported during May 2004.
