India’s exports during May, 2005 are valued at US $ 7221.36 million (US $ 7.2 billion) which is 22.28% higher than the level of US $ 5905.61 million during May, 2004. In rupee terms, the exports were Rs.31404.91 crore, which is 17.52% higher than the value of exports during May, 2004.

Exports during April-May, 2005-2006 are valued at US $ 13789.35 million (US $ 13.7 billion) which is 19.81% higher than the level of US $ 11509.57 million during April-May, 2004-2005. In rupee terms, the exports were Rs.60134.09 crore, during April-May, 2005-2006 which is 17.12% higher than the value of exports during April-May, 2004-2005.

India’s Imports during April-May, 2005-2006 are valued at US $ 21002.82 million (US $ 21 billion) representing an increase of 40.91% over the level of imports valued at US $ 14905.00 million in April-May, 2004-2005. In Rupee terms, the imports increased by 37.66%.

Oil imports during April-May, 2005-2006 are valued at US $ 6091.07 million which is 35.84% higher than oil imports valued at US $ 4484.13 million in the corresponding period last year. Non-oil imports during April-May, 2005-2006 are estimated at US $ 14911.75 million which is 43.10% higher than the level of such imports valued at US $ 10420.87 million in April-May, 2004-2005.

Imports during May, 2005 are valued at US $ 10843.18 million representing an increase of 35.46% over the level of imports valued at US $ 8004.85 million in May, 2004. In Rupee terms the imports increased by 30.18%.

The trade deficit for April-May, 2005-2006 is estimated at US $ 7213.47 million which is higher than the deficit at US $ 3395.43 million during April-May, 2004-2005.
