Shri Dayanidhi Maran, Minister of Communications & Information Technology, who is on a week-long visit to Switzerland, Sweden and Finland, visited the rural communication network in the northern remotest part of Sweden. Shri Maran inaugurated a Round Table on ICT collaboration in which a 16-member business delegation from FICCI also participated. The Minister is presently in Stockholm at the invitation of Swedish Minister for Communication & Regional Policy, Ms. Ulrika Messing. The two Ministers witnessed the signing of an MoU between FICCI and the Sweden India Business Council for promoting bilateral trade and investment. The Minister also visited the Esrange facility there.
Shri Maran invited the Swedish SMEs to collaborate with Indian companies to enhance their competitiveness. During his interaction with the Swedish media, the Minister highlighted the strides made by India in the Information Technology & Communication sector. He invited the ICT companies to participate in IndiaSoft 2006. Shri Maran also extended invitation to his counterpart the Swedish Minister Ms. Ulrika Messing to lead a business delegation of SMEs to India.
