Government today re-constituted the Central Direct Taxes Advisory Committee under the Chairmanship of Union Finance Minister. Minister of State for Finance (Revenue) will be its Vice-Chairman. The Committee will advise the Government on measures for developing and encouraging mutual understanding and co-operation between the taxpayers and the Income-tax Department and on measures for removing administrative and procedural difficulties of general nature.
According to a Resolution issued by the Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, here today, the Committee will have three official members and sixteen non-official members with its headquarters at New Delhi. The official members will consist of Secretary, Department of Revenue; and Chairman and Member(Revenue), Central Board of Direct Taxes. The non-official members include four Members of Parliament (two from Rajya Sabha and two from Lok Sabha) and twelve representatives drawn from the fields of Lawyer; Chartered Accountant; Trade, Commerce and Industry; Management Expert and Economist.
