CBI rescues minor girl kidnapped from Mehrauli and arrested her abductor

CBI today recovered a Delhi school girl, who was kidnapped from near her house in April last year, within 35 days of taking over the investigation from the Delhi police. The girl who was minor at the time of the incident was produced before the designated court in Delhi today and the accused would be produced before the court tomorrow. The girl, a resident of village Jaunapur, under Mehrauli Police Station, New Delhi was studying in the IXth class in a Govt. school in Jaunapur. On 25.4.2004, she went out of home for taking tuition but did not return home. In his complaint before the Mehrauli Police Station, the father of the girl said that she had known a person by the name of Anand Kumar Rajbhatt, of Nasirpur Barba, in the Distt. of Amedkar Nagar (U.P) and he might have kidnapped his daughter. Anand Kumar was working in Delhi and staying in village Jaunapur at the time of the incident.

The case was investigated by Mehrauli Police Station and the Anti-Kidnapping Cell of Delhi police. On the orders of the Supreme Court of India, dated 2.5.2005, CBI took over the investigation from the Anti-Kidnapping Cell on 10.5.2005. The CBI conducted field investigation at various places of Uttar Pradesh and after strenuous efforts of three weeks, the team camping in Ambedkar Nagar district, received information that Anand Kumar along with the kidnapped girl was living in Delhi. Subsequently, CBI team started locating the place in the night of 14.6.2005 and recovered the girl from a house in Uttam Nagar area of Delhi today. Anand Kumar was arrested from Mayapuri, New Delhi where he was working.

1 Investigation by CBI has revealed that the boy and the girl during the last one year were staying at various places in Ambedkar Nagar district, Azamgarh and Varanasi before shifting to Delhi about seven months ago and were staying in a rented accommodation at Uttam Nagar. The girl is reported to have married Anand Kumar.
