The Election Commission has decided to hold Biennial Elections to the Council of States from Goa, Gujarat and West Bengal. The details of seats are as under: -

The Election Commission has also decided to hold Bye-Election to fill up one seat caused due to resignation of Shri R.V Devaraj on 16.5.2005 in the Karnataka Legislative Council (elected by the Members of Karnataka Legislative Assembly) whose term of office was upto and including 14th June, 2010.
The aforesaid Biennial Elections/Bye-Election shall be held in accordance with the following programme:-
1. Issue of Notification : 27.06.2005 (Monday) 2. Last date of making nominations : 04.07.2005 (Monday) 3. Scrutiny of nominations : 05.07.2005 (Tuesday) 4. Last date for the withdrawal of candidatures : 07.07.2005 (Thursday) 5. Date of poll : 14.07.2005 (Thursday) 6. Counting of Votes : 14.07.2005 (Thursday At 5.00 P.M.) 7. Date before which election shall be completed : 19.07.2005 (Tuesday)
