assocham compliments railway minister for achieving significant reduction in turn around time of wagons

The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry has complimented the Railway Minister Shri Lalu Prasad for achieving significant efficiency enhancement of the Indian Railways in reducing the turn around time of wagons from 7 to 5.5 days and also for increasing the carrying capacity of wagons by 7 to 12%.

In a letter addressed to the Railway Minister, the Secretary General of the ASSOCHAM, Shri D.S. Rawat said that this was a major achievement indeed in view of the greater macro-logistic support required by the Indian Industry.

Shri Rawat said, “As the representative of the industry, we are delighted to know that the Indian Railways, under your dynamic leadership has recorded an unprecedented growth of 16% in freight loading in the months of April and May 2005. Moreover, it is fully geared to place goods trains in the months of June to September as an when demand arises”.
