The Minister of Railways, Shri Lalu Prasad has announced a rebate of 20 per cent on loading of goods, coming under class 140 or above except minerals, coal and iron raw materials on empty flow direction wagons. Delivering inaugural address at a seminar on Dedicated Railway Freight Corridor, being organized by ASSOCHAM here today, Shri Prasad said that during the lean period from July 1 to September 30, there will be 15 per cent freight rebate on the additional loading after attaining the bench mark (110%) at these sidings which had registered 10 per cent growth in loading in the corresponding period last year.
The Minister also announced extending of free time for loading and unloading in jumbo rakes from eight hours to nine hours and also extended free time for unloading in tank wagons from five hours to seven hours. The free time has also been increased for mechanised unloading in open wagons from five hours to six hours. Extra two hours free time has been extended for additional shunting being used for moving and removing of rakes on sidings. The facility for loading and unloading on two points has been given if a trader is not in a position to load unload on the entire rake.
