The Small Industry Development Organisation (SIDO), an apex body under the Ministry of Small Scale Industries and Agro & Rural Industries has been implementing various schemes and programmes to assist the promotion and growth of small enterprises. It organised eight Motivational Campaigns in June 2005 for 600 persons. SIDO has also sanctioned 16 Entrepreneurship Development Programmes for various States and issued instructions to its field institutions to this effect.
Proposals for establishing two Sub-Contracting Exchanges at Goa and Erode (Tamil Nadu) through the respective Industry Associations were approved by the SIDO. Under ISO 9000/14001 Reimbursement Scheme, 538 cases for reimbursement of a sum of Rs. 2.6 crore were processed by the SIDO for approval and release in June 2005.
