nalco bags five awards in 2004-05

National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), the public sector aluminium major has bagged five prestigious awards during the year 2004-05. In July 2004, it received the Best Exporter Award - 2003 of Orissa. Its captive power plant bagged the Indira Gandhi Paryavaran Puraskar - 2000 in September 2004 for its outstanding contributions in the field of environment management. The company received the trophy, a citation and cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh from the Union Minister of State for Environment & Forests.

The company got the prestigious CII National Award for 'Excellence in Energy Management' for the year 2004. Thirty-eight companies, shortlisted from 146 industries participated in this competition. It bagged the highest export award of CAPEXIL for the year 2003-04. The award was received from Shri E.V.K.S. Elangovan, Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, at a function held in New Delhi in November 2004. For the 17th year in succession, NALCO has been receiving the CAPEXIL awards under different categories.

NALCO has been accorded the prestigious Five-Star Export House status, in accordance with the provision under the Exim Policy of Ministry of Commerce. Since 1991, it has been recognized as a Star Trading House for its substantial contributions to export of aluminium metal and calcined alumina to various overseas markets. During 2000, NALCO's status was upgraded to Super Star Trading House considering further growth in exports.
