The Minister of State for Non-Conventional Energy Sources (Independent Charge) Shri Vilas Muttemwar announced in the Rajya Sabha in a written reply today that under a new Scheme, the Ministry of Non-Conventional Energy Sources (MNES) plans to support the creation of a network of retail outlets in the form of Akshya Urja Shops for sale and service of solar energy and other renewable energy products. The shops can be set up by State Nodal Agencies, Manufacturers’ Associations, NGOs and Private Entrepreneurs.

Shri Muttemwar further informed the House that under the earlier Scheme, 81 Aditya Solar Shops were set up in 28 States. Under the new Scheme, it is proposed to establish Akshya Urja Shops in all the districts of the country with support to be provided in the form of soft loans for setting up the shops alongwith a recurring grant linked to performance of the shops over a specified period.
