In a yet another step to alleviate the sufferings of the local population, Armys 14 Corps organized a number of medical camps in Ladakh region recently. The camps which were part of OP Sadbhawana were organized from 05 July to 08 July 05 at far flung villages of Hemis, Changa Marslam Chinery, Tangste, Panikhar, Sankoo in Suru and Zanskar Valleys of Ladakh.
The response of the civilian population was overwhelming. Medical specialists from Army and Bara Hindu Rao Hospital, New Delhi examined around six hundred patients and distributed free medicines to them. Patients requiring prolonged treatment were referred to Armys 153 General Hospital at Leh.
Besides providing medical cover in far flung areas, the main features of the camp was participation of a multi-specialty team of doctors from Hindu Rao Hospital.
The USP of the campaign was the joint effort of civil and Army doctors in reaching out to the populace of the far-flung areas of Ladakh. This resulted in not just attending to their physical ailments but also to win over their hearts. It was a small gesture to convey that we care. The appreciation by the village elders was also conveyed to Lt Gen Milan Naidu, GOC 14 Corps who requested the local Army Division to organize more such camps.
