Shri Justice B.K. Rathi, a retired Judge of the Allahabad High Court, was sworn in as Chairman of the Monopolies and Restrictive Trade Practices Commission(MRTP) here today. He was administered the oath of office and secrecy by Shri Justice Y.K. Sabharwal, Judge, Supreme Court of India, in the Judges’ Conference Room of the apex court.
The Minister of State for Company Affairs (Independent Charge), Shri Prem Chand Gupta received and ushered in Justice Sabharwal. The Secretary, Ministry of Company Affairs, Smt. Komal Anand read out the order of appointment of Shri Justice B.K. Rathi.
Shri Justice B.K. Rathi was born on May 25, 1941. After completing B.Sc. and L.L.B., he practised as an advocate on civil and criminal sides from 1962 in Bulandshahr District Court. He was appointed as Munsif in January, 1969 and promoted as Additional District and Sessions Judge in June, 1977. He was appointed as a permanent Judge of the Allahabad High Court on February 5, 1999 and retired on May 24, 2003.
