Rajya Sabha

The Department of Information Technology is working on a plan to establish 1,00,000 Common Service Centres (CSC) across the country by the year 2007. Such centres would have the flexibility to offer a mix of services (both Government and non-Government including localised servcies) that may be needed by the local community. This was stated by Dr. Shakeel Ahmad, Minister of State for Communications & Information Technology today in the Rajya Sabha in a written reply to the question by Shri Rudra Narayan Pany and Shri B.J. Panda.

Dr. Ahmed further stated that Orissa could also be one of the beneficiary States for the CSCs.
