inflation rate falls to 3.74 per cent in may

The All India Consumer Price Index Number for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) on base 1982=100 for the Month of May, 2005 registered a decrease of 2 points and stood at 527. The decrease in index was mainly due to decrease in the prices of wheat, wheat atta, onion, chillies dry and kerosene oil etc.

All India Consumer Price Index Number for May, 2004 had increased by 4 points and stood at 508.

The point-to-point inflation rate based on CPI-IW for the month of May, 2005 has decreased from 4.96 per cent in April, 2005 to 3.74 per cent. The inflation rate was 2.83 per cent in May, 2004.
