government proposes fund for traditional industries

In keeping with the declaration in the National Common Minimum Programme (NCMP) and the announcement in the July 2004 Budget Speech of the Finance Minister, Government has prepared a Draft Scheme titled the “Scheme of Fund for Regeneration of Traditional Industries ” (SFURTI) covering traditional industries like coir, khadi and village industries. Based on a “cluster approach” the proposal has been circulated to various Ministries and Departments for their comments . After final approval the Scheme is likely to be commenced during 2005-06.

This information was given by the Minister of Small Scale Industries and Agro & Rural Industries , Shri Mahabir Prasad in a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha today.
