The Finance Minister, Shri P. Chidambaram will inaugurate the 21st Annual Conference of Chief Commissioners and Directors General of Income Tax, here tomorrow. The two-day Conference will deliberate upon strategies for maximizing tax collections, reduction of arrears and widening of tax base. Minister of State for Finance (Revenue), Shri S.S. Palanimanickam and other senior officers of the Ministry of Finance will also be present.
The progress of computerization and major action areas for 2005-2006 will be discussed during the Conference. The Conference will also focus on an important issue of preventive vigilance in the functioning of the Income Tax Department.
The Valedictory Address will be delivered by the MoS (Revenue) on 7th July, 2005.
