The Government has constituted an enquiry committee to look into various activities of National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language (NCPUL), New Delhi. The Committee, will be chaired by Shri D.R. Goyal, senior journalist and social activist and will submit its report to the Ministry of Human Resource Development within a period of three months. The other members of the committee are : Prof. Itiquar Alam Khan, retired professor of Aligarh Muslim University, Shri Javed Naqvi, senior journalist and Prof. Ramakant Agnihotri, Prof. of Linguistics of Delhi University.
The Committee will look into various aspects of the Urdu Council, such as functioning of the Council in terms of its mandate and if any departure has been made from its basic mandate, whether utilization of allocated resources during the last five years has been in consistence with the mandate and any other matters which may be referred to it by the Government.
The Committee may, in addition to the above, also look into any other aspect which it consider relevant and suggest follow up action, if any, which needs to be taken based on its recommendations. The Committee shall also interact with the Vice-Chairman and the members of the Council before finalizing its report.
