Ministry of Tourism has sanctioned number of projects for promotion of tourism in Uttaranchal in 2004-05, which include the development of Dayara Bugyal under Tourist circuit (Rs. 536.36 lakh), development of Pithoragarh-Munsiyari-Berinag in Kumaon under destination development (Rs. 418.60 lakh), development Pauri-Khirshu-Lansdowne under destination development (Rs. 457.93 lakh), integrated development of Badrinath Dham Travel Circuit (Rs. 702.09 lakh), tourism networking with Internet through WAN(Wide Area Network) in 30 Tourist rest houses and 10 regional offices (Rs. 50.00 lakh) and GOI-UNDP endogenous tourism project at Village Mana Chamoli Distt. (Rs. 20.00 lakh). This was stated by the Minister of State for Tourism in a reply to a question by Shri Ms. Pramila Bohidar in the Rajya Sabha here today.

She further stated that the 20-year tourism perspective plan on Uttaranchal has made an assessment of basic infrastructure requirement in the State. The various programmes/projects suggested are the promotion of eco-spiritual religious, yoga and adventurous tourism including glacier tourism at Pindari glacier in Bageswar district, health spa in Gwaldam in Kumaon and Garhwal reigon, helicopter ride from Joshimath for view of Himalayan ranges and Valley of Flowers, development of infrastructure at Auli as a Ski destination, winter sports in Bedni Bugwal in Chamoli, Meditation centers along the course of Alaknanda, model village depicting the cultural heritage and natural environment, camping facilities between Mastura and Mandal along Badrinath-Kedarnath route, Yoga and meditation center at Dehradun, health hermitage in Muketeshwar, Lansdowne as an alternative Hill station, development of Munsiyari as a Centre for winter sports, bungee jumping in Pithoragarh, lake tourism in New Tehri and Yoga and meditation center at Uttar Kashi, etc., she said.
