defence minister orders help for rescue and relief for the mumbai high fire accident

The Defence Minister, Shri Pranab Mukherjee has directed all possible help to assist the ONGC in the rescue and relief operations. Accordingly, one sea-king helicopter of Navy was pressed into operation in the evening with life-rafts for rescuing the survivors.

Eight ships of the Navy and the Coast Guard have already proceeded to the accident site and are expected to reach there by midnight tonight. They are adequately equipped for emergency rescue and relief operations. One Dornier aircraft of the Navy has also been pressed into service carrying life rafts.
