The Chief Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities working under the ageis of Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has brought out a compilation of the Judgements of Disability Issues delivered by various courts of law. The compilation will be useful to the Judges, Advocates, State Disability Commissioners, Government functionaries, the persons and the organisations working in disability sector in their endeavour to safeguard the rights of the persons with disabilities. Amity Law School, New Delhi has provided assistance in bringing out this compilation.
The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment under the UNDP funded project has developed Tele-Training Module for Teachers on Inclusive Education. The National Trust for the Welfare of Persons with autism, cerebral palsy, mental retardation and multiple disabilities has also prepared a module for Classroom Management of Children with these Disabilities. These publications are expected to help improve competencies of trainers as well as the teachers and thereby promote qualitative mainstreaming of children with disabilities. In addition, National Institute of Mentally Handicapped has published the findings of a study on the Status of Education of Children with Disabilities in India, which will be useful for policy makers to evolve better strategies for education of children with disabilities.
