central team to visit tamil nadu and karnataka

The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Dr. J. Jayalalithaa called on the Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, at Parliament House here today, to seek his intervention in the release of Cauvery waters into Tamil Nadu by the Government of Karnataka.

The Prime Minister informed the Chief Minister that he had already spoken to the Karnataka Chief Minister in this regard. He said that a team of Central Government officials will visit both states and ensure that the needs of the farmers are met. The Prime Minister said that “it is our duty to see that justice is done to all farmers. Farmers’ interests are dearest to me. The Government of India will do all that is possible to relieve the distress of the farmers and ensure their needs are met.”
