CBI arrests fourth accused in the Gurgaon robbery-cum-murder case

The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested one more accused Mahender Singh, in the highway robbery and double murder case of Gurgaon (Haryana) during September 2002 Mahender Singh along with four others had hatched a criminal conspiracy to loot trucks passing through the highway, near Gurgaon in the nights, murder the driver & cleaner of the truck and dispose of the looted goods. In furtherance of the said criminal conspiracy, Mahender Singh and four others looted truck No. HR-46 A-8092 on 11.9.2002 which was carrying electronic items like DVD parts, speakers, remotes worth about Rs. 15 lakh from Bangalore to Delhi on Pataudi Road, Gurgaon in the night, killed the driver Naresh Kumar and cleaner Azad Singh threw their dead bodies in the gutter and disposed of the electronic items.

The CBI had earlier arrested Sunil, Vijay and Gurcharan Sharma @ Radhey in this sensational highway robbery-cum-murder case on 20.6.2005. On their disclosures, CBI had recovered the knife used to stab and kill the driver and the cleaner and also the tawa being used by the driver and the cleaner in the truck for preparing rotis during the long journeys from a drainage near Rewari. Accused Mahender Singh has been remanded to CBI custody till 18.7.2005 by the CBI Special Magistrate at Ambala. This case was entrusted to CBI by the High Court of Punjab and Haryana and CBI took up investigation in January this year. It is on account of the hard work and intelligence collected by the CBI that the gang behind the highway robbery and murder could be tracked and arrested within a period of five months.
One more accused in this case is absconding.
