CBI arrests ESIC Deputy Director for bribe

The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a Deputy Director of Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), Nagpur and another person who was working as his conduit for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.10,000/- from the complaint.

The complainant alleged that his hotel is registered with ESIC Aurangabad and he was making contribution towards ESIC on behalf of 12 employees of the hotel. He had received a show cause notice from the ESIC Nagpur in the name of his hotel for recovery of an amount of Rs.52,857/- which was supposedly due to ESIC from his hotel. The conduit, a consultant at Aurangabad, contacted the complainant to settle the issue on payment of bribe of Rs.10,000/- as demanded by the accused. CBI laid a trap after the complainant loged a complaint with it and both the Dy. Director & the consultant were arrested while accepting the bribe.
