CBI arrests Land Acquisition & Rehabilitation Officer, NHDC for bribe

The Central Bureau of Investigation has caught red-handed a Land Acquisition & Rehabilitation Officer of Narmada Hyderoelectric Development Corporation (NHDC) Ltd. Harda (M.P.) for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.5000/- from the complainant for issuing Stamp Duty exemption certificate for purchase/registration of Land. Subsequently, during search of his house, more than Rs. Four Lakh cash and other incriminating documents were recovered.

In another case, CBI arrested a Superintendent of Customs posted at Customs House, Strand Road, Kolkata for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs. 10,000/- from the complainant for issue of CT-3 forms. Searches were conducted at the office and residential premises of the accused which yielded cash of Rs. 40,000/- and some incriminating documents. The accused was produced before the designated court, Kolkata and remanded to judicial custody.
