CBI's Anti-Narcotic Cell seizes twelve kilogram of opium and arrests three

CBI conducted searches in a house in Meghdoot colony, Mandsour, MP and in a godown of Poppy straw at Jagga Khari, Mandour, MP and seized more than 12 Kgs. of opium, yesterday. The investigating agency also arrested three persons involved for possession of these contraband. All the three have been remanded to judicial custody by the Special Judge,NDPS Act Cases, Mandsour, M.P. today. The three persons who have been arrested are; Prahlad Sisaudia of Malhargarh Tehsil, Bapu Lal of Guradida village and Shailendra Sharma of Suwasra Mandi, Maruti Nagar.

In this connection, CBI has registered a Regular Case u/s 8 r/w Section 18, 25 & 29 of NDPS Act, 1985 and further investigation is continuing. The search operation was conducted by the Economic Offences Unit of the CBI which is a specialised unit of CBI for anti-narcotics operation. The seizure has been described as significant because opium is used for processing heroien and based on purity factor, the value of the seized opium can to be over Rs.50 lakh in the international market.
