bsnl to introduce 3g services

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) proposes to introduce 3G (Third Generation) services as part of the next phase of procurements for the financial year 2006-07. BSNL is in the process of assessing the demand potential for the 3G services but from procurement angle, BSNL is contemplating 50% of the tendered quantity of 3G services. This was stated by Dr. Shakeel Ahmad, Minister of State for Communications & Information Technology today in the Rajya Sabha in a written reply to the question by Shri R. Shunmugasundaram.

The Minister further stated that 3G services support data speed upto 2 Mbps and can support the applications of Video streaming, Video download, online games, etc.
